We depart from Tirana and begin our journey toward northern Albania. Relax and enjoy the changing scenery as we leave the capital behind and head toward the historic city of Shkodër.
Rozafa Castle
Our first stop is the magnificent Rozafa Castle, one of Albania's most iconic historical landmarks. Perched high above Shkodër, the castle offers spectacular views over the city, Lake Shkodër, and the surrounding rivers and mountains. During our visit, we will discover the history of this ancient fortress and hear the famous Legend of Rozafa, one of the country's most enduring tales. Beyond its rich history, the castle offers breathtaking panoramic views of Shkodër, Lake Shkodër, the Buna and Drin rivers, and the surrounding mountains. Take your time to enjoy the scenery, explore the historic ruins, and capture some unforgettable photographs from this remarkable viewpoint.
Journey to Qafë Thore
We continue our journey toward the mountains, leaving the lowlands behind as the road takes us into the spectacular scenery of the Albanian Alps. As we climb higher, the landscape becomes more dramatic, with winding mountain roads, towering peaks, and breathtaking views. Our destination is Qafë Thore, one of the most impressive mountain viewpoints on the way to Theth.
Depending on weather conditions, Qafë Thore transforms into a beautiful winter wonderland, offering the perfect opportunity to experience the magic of the Albanian mountains. Enjoy some free time to walk and play in the snow, take unforgettable winter photographs, admire the snow-covered peaks, or simply relax and breathe in the fresh mountain air. This is your chance to slow down, embrace the winter atmosphere, and enjoy the natural beauty of the Albanian Alps. After enjoying the snow, we try delicious traditional Albanian lunch in the mountains. Savor authentic local specialties in a cozy setting surrounded by snow-covered landscapes, featuring warm Albanian hospitality and great local cuisine.
Return & Afternoon in Shkodër
Following lunch, we begin our descent back toward Shkodër, admiring the scenic mountain vistas along the way. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing walk along the city's famous pedestrian promenade. Take time to stop for coffee or dessert, browse local shops, and experience the charming atmosphere of northern Albania's most vibrant cultural hub.
Return to Tirana

Albania has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers, cool springsn, autumns and mild winters! Rainy seasons are usually expected to be autumns and winters. Snow is expected locally in the mountainous areas during December – January!
The activity level of this tour is Relaxed: Suitable for all ages, with short walks, free time to enjoy the winter scenery and optional snow activities depending on weather conditions or availability.
