Bulqizë: A Glimpse into Albania’s Chromium-Rich Heart. It is nestled in the northeastern region of Albania, is a place where history, geology, and industry converge.
Ohrid town, a Gem that sits gracefully on the shores of Lake Ohrid. Its claim to fame lies in its 365 churches, one for each day of the year. This earned it the moniker of the “Jerusalem of the Balkans”. The city’s picturesque houses and monuments weave a rich tapestry of history.
Bulqize is a mining city in the Dibër region of Albania, known for its rich deposits of chromium ore. It is also home to a unique cultu ral heritage of the Albanians, who live in traditional stone houses called Kulla.
The mining industry is the most important place for jobs for this region. Chromium is the number one export of Albania. We start our guided tour of the chromium mines, where you can learn about the extraction process and the working conditions of the miners. You can also visit the Mining Museum, which displays various tools, equipment, and minerals related to the mining activity.

Depart to the area of Lake Ohrid. Visit the Old Town of Ohrid (UNESCO Heritage City and Lake), church St, Sofia, church t. Klement, ancient Theater etc. Take an Optional boat tour in the Lake (Lake is a UNESCO site being one of the 4 oldest lakes in the World). Drive to St Naum for a visit of the beautiful ancient monastery (9th century).
