Zweitägige Tour nach Budva und Kotor von Tirane aus

A Cross-Border Cultural Experience Through Albania and Montenegro

This two-day tour from Tirana offers a unique opportunity to explore two fascinating countries—Albania and Montenegro—and four historically rich and scenic cities: Shkodra, Budva, Kotor, und Ulcinj. Though geographically close, each city offers its own unique charm, cultural identity, and architectural style.

Day 1: From Tirana to Shkodra, Budva, and Kotor

Shkodra – Northern Albania’s Cultural Heart

Your journey begins in Shkodra, one of the oldest and most important cities in Albania, located in the northern part of the country. In ancient times, it was the capital of the Illyrian kingdom during the 3rd century BC.

During your visit, you will:

  • Erforschen Sie die Schloss Rozafa, dramatically situated on a hilltop with panoramic views of rivers and mountains. The castle is linked to one of Albania’s most well-known legends.

  • Besuchen Sie die Marubi National Museum of Photography, which houses a remarkable archive of photographs dating from the mid-1800s to the early 20th century, showcasing daily life, culture, and people from Albania and the surrounding region.

  • Take a walk through the charming pedestrian street of Shkodra, lined with buildings that reflect Italian and Austrian architectural influences, a testament to the city’s historical ties to Europe.

Budva – The Coastal Gem of Montenegro

After crossing the border into Montenegro, the tour continues to Budva, a vibrant coastal city on the Adriatic Sea.

Here, you’ll discover:

  • The famous Altstadt von Budva, a well-preserved medieval city surrounded by ancient stone walls and filled with narrow streets, quaint churches, and charming squares.

  • Budva’s sandy beaches, which attract visitors from around the world for sunbathing, swimming, and water activities.

  • A lively atmosphere, especially in the summer, with bustling cafes, shops, and nightlife.

Kotor – A UNESCO World Heritage Site

In the afternoon, the tour arrives in Kotor, one of the most picturesque towns on the Adriatic coast. Located within a secluded bay and surrounded by steep mountains, Kotor is a destination of historical and cultural significance.

In Kotor, you’ll have the chance to:

  • Erforschen Sie die UNESCO-listed Old Town, famous for its medieval architecture, ancient churches, museums, and palaces.

  • Stroll through the labyrinth of cobblestone alleys, lined with centuries-old buildings.

  • Optionally, climb the ancient fortification walls for stunning panoramic views over the Bay of Kotor.

Overnight stay is arranged in Montenegro, giving you time to relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Day 2: Ulcinj and Return to Tirana

Ulcinj – Sun, Sea, and Culture

On the second day, the tour heads to Ulcinj, one of the oldest towns on Montenegro’s southern coast. Known for its multicultural heritage, Ulcinj has been influenced by Illyrian, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman civilizations.

Your visit to Ulcinj includes:

  • A walk through the Old Town, perched on a cliff above the sea, offering scenic views and traditional architecture.

  • Free time to enjoy Velika Plaža (Long Beach)—the longest beach on the Adriatic Sea, stretching over 13 kilometers. Ulcinj’s coastline offers some of the best swimming spots and soft, sandy shores.

  • A chance to experience local cuisine and the relaxed coastal lifestyle of southern Montenegro.

In the late afternoon, the tour returns to Tirana, concluding your two-day adventure.

Reiseplan

*In the morning we drive to Shkodra the most important city of north Albania, set in a beautiful plateau in front of the largest lake in the Balkans named after the town itself, and with the Albanian Alps as a backdrop. We will take a walking tour in “Gjuhadol” a newly renovated pedestrian area of Italian and Austrian architectural influences, testimony to this city’s historic links with both these countries. Then we will visit Rozafa castle and we will not only experience the supremacy the Illyrians would have feel over their enemies standing in such an imposing Castle, but will also admire breathtaking views 360 degrees.

*After this visit we drive to Budva. The city of Budva is one of the most important touristic cities of Montenegro with a fascinating history, dating 2600 years ago. The tour of Budva continues in the Old Part of town with some quick visits at the Roman Ruins and the Budva Fortress by the coast offering spectacular views. The tiny streets of Budva are very charming. It is worth spending some time wandering around and visiting some of the local shops. Free time for lunch.
Stop in front of St Stefan Island St Stefan dates back from the 15th century as a Fisherman’s family which was fortified for better control to the sea. For the first time, it has transformed to a hotelier complex during the Yugoslavian Communist time, at the reign of Tito.

Check in the hotel in Budva.

*After breakfast in the hotel, we drive to Kotor. Situated in an unusual gulf, named after the town it has been a very important historical, strategical and trading center. Founded around the 6th century BC, Kotor resembles an Open Book of history when you can spot different tracks and records from different periods of history. Most of the influence is from Venetian time, as for a long time it was part of the Venetian Republic. We will walk around the small squares, surrounded by typical quarters and visit some of the Highlights for their architecture, historical values and style.

*Then we drive to Ulcinj. The ancient town of Ulcinj had often been a place where the east and west collided through the course of its long, turbulent history. Due to its geopolitical position, mild Mediterranean climate, as well as the astounding nature, Ulcinj was a target of numerous conquerors who wanted to settle in this resplendent part of Europe. All that turmoil left Ulcinj unique, with immense cultural, historical, and architectural heritage. After our visits we return to Tirana.
