Impact in Action: The Free Trip to Berat Project

A Journey of Heritage, Heart, and Giving Back

At Aria Travel Albania, we believe that the true beauty of our country lies not just in its ancient stones, but in the people who tell its stories. In collaboration with the National Association of Tourist Guides Albania (NATGA), we are proud to present the Free Trip to Berat—a signature initiative that redefines what it means to be a conscious traveler.

The Vision: Tourism as a Force for Education

Berat, the “City of 1,001 Windows” and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the heart of Albanian history. Our project ensures that this heritage is accessible to all, while simultaneously building a sustainable future for the next generation of Albanian storytellers.

We operate this project on a “Pay as Much as You Think It’s Worth” model. This empowers our guests to experience a premium, high-standard tour and then contribute based on the value they received and the impact they wish to make.

“We don’t just show you the history of Berat; we invite you to become a part of its future.”

Where Your Contribution Goes

Every contribution made during the Free Trip to Berat has a purpose. We are committed to transparency and direct impact:

  • 40% to the NATGA Charity Fund: A significant portion of all proceeds goes directly into a dedicated fund managed by the National Association of Tourist Guides Albania.
  • Supporting Future Guides: These funds are used to pay the tuition and licensing fees for talented students at the School of Tourist Guides who face financial hardships.
  • Professional Excellence: By removing financial barriers, we ensure that the most passionate and knowledgeable local youth can enter the profession, maintaining the high standards of guiding that Albania is known for.

What to Expect on the Journey

While the project has a social mission, the experience remains a hallmark of Aria Travel’s boutique service. Led by expert NATGA-certified guides, you will explore:

  • The Kala (Berat Castle): A living fortress where families still reside within ancient walls.
  • Onufri Iconographic Museum: Home to the masterpieces of Albania’s greatest 16th-century painter.
  • The Historic Quarters: A walk through the narrow, cobbled streets of Mangalem and Gorica to witness the harmony of Ottoman architecture.
  • Authentic Narratives: Deep insights into the Albanian code of Besa (honor) and the religious harmony that defines our culture.

A Partnership for the Future

Our collaboration with NATGA ensures that your visit supports the highest level of professional ethics and historical accuracy. Aria Travel Albania views this project as a vital branch of our sustainability mission — ensuring that tourism protects our culture rather than consuming it.
